Vertical software studio · Ontario, Canada

Software for the trades software forgot.

Ted Kam Consulting Ltd builds and operates subscription software for small businesses that the big platforms price out and the general-purpose tools never quite fit. We pick one trade, learn how the work actually runs, and ship a product narrow enough to be genuinely good at it.

Two products live today: Estiquik for renovation contractors, Prodigy Suite for class-based studios.

Our products

Two trades, one foundation
Construction

Estiquik

Renovation and home-improvement contractors

Estimating, invoicing and job costing for the one- to ten-person renovation business — the segment stuck between a spreadsheet and a platform built for general contractors.

  • Regional pricing and tax built into every estimate
  • Invoices, card payments and expense tracking against the job
  • Imports from the tools contractors are leaving behind
Education & activities

Prodigy Suite

Dance, music, martial arts, swim and tutoring studios

Registration, attendance, family accounts and automatic tuition billing for studios that run on a schedule — priced by how many students you teach, not by locking features away.

  • Enrollment, class scheduling and attendance in one record
  • Tuition, family credits and card-on-file billing through the studio's own Stripe account
  • A parent portal that removes the reminder texts

How we build

One stack, pointed at the next underserved trade

Every product we run sits on the same technical foundation — managed authentication and database, Stripe for payments, static hosting, and no servers of our own to misconfigure. The products differ in what they know about the work, not in how they are built.

01
Learn the trade first

We start from how the money and the paperwork actually move in a business — the term, the deposit, the change order — rather than from a generic CRM and a pile of custom fields.

02
Reuse the foundation

Billing, permissions, security rules and hosting are solved once and carried forward. Each new vertical costs less to launch than the one before it.

03
Sell it self-serve

Published prices, a trial you can start yourself, and no demo call standing between an owner and the product. Small businesses do not have a procurement department.

Principles

How we would want to be sold to
Publish the price

Plans and what is in them are printed on every product site, with a documented notice period before any price change. No quote process, no per-seat surprise at renewal.

The data belongs to the customer

Every product exports its records in open formats, and imports from the system being replaced. We do not sell customer data or use it to train anything.

Name the gaps

Each product publishes a security page that lists the protections it does not have yet, by name. A prospect who leaves because of it was going to find out anyway.

No invented proof

We do not publish testimonials, customer logos or usage numbers we cannot stand behind. Where a site is quiet about traction, that silence is deliberate and honest.

Built to still be here

Low fixed costs and subscription revenue rather than a burn-and-raise cycle, because the worst thing a small business tool can do is take on their records and then disappear.
