◆ Jackrabbit Class alternative

Jackrabbit charges by the student.
Prodigy Suite doesn't.

Jackrabbit Class is good software with a twenty-year track record — and a bill that climbs every time your roster does, including students who left. Prodigy Suite does the same job — registration, rosters, attendance, auto-pay tuition — for one flat price that tops out at $79.99.

Every feature in every plan except multiple locations — registration, rosters, attendance, auto-pay tuition, skills, certificates, private lessons, store, leads and trial bookings are in all three. Starter is for a studio at one address. 14 days free, no card. Cancel any time. USD and CAD pricing.

Card processing on the tuition you collect is Stripe's standard rate (2.9% + 30¢ in the US), charged by Stripe into your own account — Prodigy Suite adds nothing on top. Jackrabbit processes payments through Jackrabbit Pay; their rates are quoted on request.

An honest split

Where each one genuinely wins

Pick Jackrabbit if you need…

  • A branded app in the App Store and Google PlayJackrabbit Plus does this; Prodigy Suite does not.
  • A marketplace of third-party integrationsWe connect to Stripe, import from Jackrabbit, DanceStudio-Pro and Acuity, and move anything else by CSV. No marketplace yet.
  • An Enterprise tier with BI dashboards and a dedicated coachBuilt for multi-site organisations at scale.
  • Two decades of references you can callWe are new. They are not.

Pick Prodigy Suite if you want…

  • A price that does not climb with your roster$79.99 is the ceiling whether you have 400 students or 4,000.
  • To stop paying for students who leftWe bill on active students. Alumni in your records cost nothing.
  • Tuition landing in your own Stripe accountStripe's standard rate, no markup, no one holding your money.
  • To try the real product before you talk to anyoneThe demo studio has 40 families and two months of billing history.
  • Private lessons, a front-desk store, leads and skills tracking at no extra costIncluded on Starter at $19.99.

What Prodigy Suite does not have yet

So nobody finds out after switching: there is no per-studio app-store app, no recital or costume planning, no ticketing, and no staff payroll. If any of those is a deal-breaker today, Jackrabbit is the safer choice and we would rather you knew now.

Two-way SMS used to be on this list. It is not any more — your studio can have its own text number, with replies in one inbox and payment links families can tap. It is the one thing that costs extra: $4.99 a month plus 2¢ a text. Jackrabbit's Twilio route costs much the same; the difference is that we buy and register the number for you instead of asking you to run a Twilio account.

Moving over

Switching from Jackrabbit takes an evening, not a season

You can run both systems for a month if you would rather move slowly. Nothing about the switch is irreversible.

STEP 1

Export from Jackrabbit

Run the Enrollment Detail report and export the All Classes grid. Two files carry your families, students, classes and who is in which one.

STEP 2

Import into Prodigy Suite

Drop both files on the import page. Jackrabbit's columns are recognised by name, you see exactly what will be created before anything is written, balances carry over, and the whole import can be undone. Growth includes hands-on help; on Unlimited we do it for you.

STEP 3

Check the schedule, send the link

Your classes arrive with their days, times, instructors and tuition. Look them over, then send families the registration link. Parents add their own card — card numbers cannot legally move between systems, on any platform.

STEP 4

Run the first tuition

Pick the day of the month. Auto-pay collects, the unpaid list shows who is left, and you stop chasing.

Before you ask

Questions studios ask when they compare the two

Is Prodigy Suite really a full replacement for Jackrabbit?

For registration, rosters, waitlists, attendance, auto-pay tuition, statements, skills tracking, certificates, private lessons, a front-desk store and lead follow-up — yes, and those are all in every plan. Two-way texting is there too, as a $4.99-a-month add-on. For branded app-store apps, recitals, ticketing and payroll — no, not today. The comparison above lists both honestly.

Why is it so much cheaper? What is the catch?

No sales team, no implementation fees, no per-student metering, and Stripe handles the money so we do not run a payments business on the side. The trade-off is real: we are newer, we have fewer integrations, and phone support is on the Unlimited plan only.

Does Jackrabbit really count inactive students?

Their published billing policy bases the monthly fee on the total number of active and inactive students in the system. Prodigy Suite counts students with an active enrollment only. Check Jackrabbit's current policy with them — it can change.

What comes across from Jackrabbit, and what does not?

Families with their billing contact, email, phone and address; students with birth dates, gender and medical notes; classes with their days, times, room, instructor, capacity, tuition and session dates; every current enrollment with its enroll date; and balances owing, posted as an opening line on the family's statement. It reads the Enrollment Detail report and the All Classes grid export directly — Jackrabbit's column names are recognised, "Jordan B." is matched to Jordan Blake on your staff list, and anyone marked dropped stays dropped. You check what will be created before anything is written, and one click undoes the whole import.

What does not move: saved card details (no system can export them), attendance and payment history, recital and costume records, and anything Jackrabbit keeps that Prodigy Suite has no equivalent for. Run both for a month if you want the history to hand.

Will my families have to re-enter their cards?

Yes, on any switch between any two systems — saved card details are held by the payment processor and cannot be exported. Families add a card once in the parent portal; it takes them about a minute and you can see who has and has not from the auto-pay list.

Can I leave Prodigy Suite as easily as I can join it?

Every list exports to CSV on every plan, there is no notice period, and tuition lives in your own Stripe account, so nothing about your money depends on us. Cancel from the billing page whenever you like.
